Restorative yoga is a method for attaining deep relaxation, using various props to support the body and melt into the postures requiring little, if any, muscular strength. This softening allows students to hold poses for a greater length of time and facilitates a physiological shift to deep restfulness, calm abiding and well-being. Through thoughtfully sequenced supported postures, breath work and meditation, restorative yoga helps manage the effects of illness and stress, relieve pain and attain peace of mind. This class is appropriate for all abilities and levels of health, and no prior yoga experience is needed.

Yin yoga is a meditative, healing practice using passive, long-held floor poses. People with physically and/or mentally active lifestyles, including athletes, cyclists, runners, weightlifters, numbers crunchers, and thinking oriented types tend to store tension in their connective tissues, fascia, muscles, joints, ligaments, and bones. In Yin yoga, poses are held between 2-5 minutes and the muscles stay passive in order to release this tension. Each Yin pose is an opportunity to recede inward and restore a sense of ease. It is a wonderful complement to an active (Yang) practice and a much needed tool for anyone who needs to unwind a tight body, mind, or heart. Yin is suitable for all levels, including beginners.

Therapeutic Yoga is a carefully designed collection of restorative yoga, gentle yoga, breath work, guided meditation and hands-on healing techniques perfect for working with injury or illness. As the relaxation response is engaged, the condition of stress is replaced by the state of deep relaxation. The body rests. Energy is directed to the processes of repair and rejuvenation; natural healing takes place. Equilibrium is restored and the body regains lost energy.
