Iyengar/Flow   (All levels)

This class developed out of a need to emphasize comprehensive form and alignment principles within the context of a flow class. This is not a Camp Chaturanga! That class is Saturday mornings at 8 a.m. You will encounter longer held standing poses with concern for precise alignment tailored to the individual. The class moves slower than an Ashtanga based flow class so we can explore principles of Inversions, Back bending, Hip openers Etc. Through a better understanding of alignment, more freedom of expression becomes available to the student. If deepening your practice is something that appeals to you, this is the class for you. Level 1 Practitioners are welcome, however basic fundamentals are necessary to participate in this class.

Vinyasa and Strong Vinyasa    Movement Breathing System (All levels)

The dynamic interplay of breath and movement. Synchronization of Ujayi pranayama (victorious or conquerors breath) a deep nose-throat breathing technique allowing the connection of mind and body in a continuous dance. Salutations produce an internal heat detoxifying muscles and organs. Balances strength with flexibility leading to clarity. We engage lines of energy and utilize Drishtis (fixed gaze eye points) and Bandhas (energetic locks or channels) to create a moving meditation. Another definition of Vinyasa is "to place carefully" making the practice a unique visual art form. This sun-salutation based flow links postures in a holistic manner leaving the body cleansed and the mind clear and refreshed. The Yoga mat becomes the playground for an internal dialogue creating transformation and a deeper connection to self as well as connection to the world and community around us. Awaken to the grace inherent within you. Note: beginners are welcome in the All levels classes. Knowledge of A and B series Sun Salutations are necessary to participate in 2-3 level classes. Please NO BEGINNERS in Strong Vinyasa classes. The VINYASA 101 workshop is a wonderful way to jump start your practice.

Hatha Flow   (All levels)

A Therapeutic style of yoga that focuses on the fundamental components required to have a truly balanced and energetically charged practice. The class begins with coordinated movements, then moves into an eclectic flow. The combination of breathing, meditation, chanting and movement is designed to systematically open the joints safely while focusing on subtle details of the practice. Flyer

Stiff Guys' Yoga   (All levels)

This class will focus on chronically tight areas of the body; the low back, hamstrings, hips and shoulders, to increase flexibility while easing discomfort and tightness. Especially great for athletes—runners, bikers, golfers, skaters, tennis players and any body that may be strong, yet tight and stiff from the more aggressive forms of exercise. This class is also wonderful for the computer jockey whose body is tightening from very little movement in the day, and is open to both men and women. Flyer

Yin Yoga   A Practice for Peace (All levels)

The Tao tells us this quiet practice sharpens intuition, strengthens our resolve, and cultivates compassion for ourselves as well as for others. Yin Yoga targets connective tissue which responds to longer held passive poses in a unique way. When our connective tissue opens, more freedom manifests spontaneously in our hips and shoulders lending strength, agility and ease in sitting comfortably. Enhancing any physical activity, Yin Yoga is also a must for anyone interested in developing a sitting meditation practice. A brief meditation practice will follow the physical practice. This practice fosters the principle of Ahimsa or non-violence and effects a heart felt change in our world view. Please join us in this collective practice for peace.  NOTE: Yin Yoga is another entry level drop-in class for the beginning student.  All the principles necessary to understand basic Yoga are ingrained in the Yin tradition.  Flyer

Restorative Yoga   A Restful Practice  (All levels)

Restorative Yoga is a flowing sequence of supported gentle yoga postures, breathwork and meditation designed to help manage the effects of stress, illness and/or injuries. Props (bolsters, blankets, pillows, towels and belts) are used to support the body in comfortable postures that provide a gentle, safe, low-load stretch. This supportive environment facilitates focus on the breath and the body, thereby setting the stage for healing, relaxation and rejuvenation. Flyer
